Our History
Established as Housing Options for the Mentally Ill Evanston in 1988, Impact’s founding was a response to a need for supportive housing for adults living with mental illness as a safe and dignified alternative to homelessness or institutionalization. For more than 37 years, Impact has been providing mental health services and affordable supportive housing, growing from a single apartment building without case management services to possessing nine buildings with 47 apartments.
Now, Impact serves over 1,400 individuals throughout Chicago and its north and northwest suburbs.
